Living my authentically abundant life

Who Said It Would Be Easy?

Hey family!

Welcome back to the blog. It’s been over two weeks since I shared something with you. I’ve been working on a blog post for the past two weeks that I’ve been meaning to post, but my procrastination has gotten the best of me.

Let me set the stage without telling you all about my business. These past two months have been hell. If it wasn’t my job and finances, it was children, my relationship, or even my extended family. I quit a job, and Papa lost a job within three weeks of each other. I had the police at my house twice within the same week about the SAME thing. To make a long story short, I’m in my Job season. I’m being tested in every single area of my life right now, and my flight or fight is in overdrive. Even while I’m sitting here writing this, I just got word of some more devastating news. How is it that the supposed best year of my life is already shaping up to be one of the worst?

Which brings me to today’s topic: who said it would be easy? Alexis, you’re doing something that hasn’t been done before. You’re singlehandedly changing the trajectory of your lineage, all the while recoursing your own life day by day. Why would any of this be easy? I watched a reel of a sermon just a few days ago where he mentioned not quitting amid adversity. He ends the clip by saying, “God is good, even when life is not.” You have to have a serious level of self-awareness for this to not piss you off! It’s not enough to be thankful for life when you have a bank full of money, and everything goes exactly how you want. You have to be willing to be thankful even in the moments of hardship and defeat, knowing that. You are already victorious. It’s easier to fight the battle when you know you’ve already won the war!

Before I continue, I want to clarify my spiritual beliefs. In this section, I will quote the Bible as a testament to God’s glory, word, and promise. I do not consider myself Christian, but I use the Bible to help me better understand my soul’s journey in this human experience. Now that that’s out the way, I want to reflect on Revelations 7:14-17. This verse comes in the book of Revelations when the 144,000 chosen are called out. They’ve passed the test and are reminded of God’s promise to his people.

Revelation 7:14-17 NIV:
I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. ‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’

Hardship does not change God’s promise. And I’ve realized in the past few months that time is obsolete to God. He is outside the realm of time. Really, he’s outside of gender, too, but traditional pronouns make it easier to refer to. I say this because while you’re feeling like you’re drowning in your reality, know that God has already rigged the game in your favor. As soon as you find yourself in a valley, God has already illuminated your path to the mountain. Basically, suck it up, buttercup. You are not being punished; you are being refined! How will you know your strength if you have not been tested?
