I’ll share some basic information about Human Design in today’s post. For those who don’t know what human design is, please Google it because I can’t describe it well. I think about it as a system for self-knowing and exploration. Now, I’m a novice on the subject, but I wouldn’t be moving into my authentic self if I didn’t share any new information I’m learning with y’all. My post today will be more of an explanation of my design rather than the subject itself. Hopefully, I can inspire you to find your own design and research.
In Human Design, there are four energy types:
- reflectors
- projectors
- manifestors
- generators
In the generator type, there’s a subsection called manifesting generators. I just discovered that Beyonce and Nicki Minaj are manifesting generators, and so am I! I’ll describe what this means later in the post. Beyond your energy type, you have a Profile, which is like a personality type. Each personality type combines two numbers formatted like a fraction (x/y) with numbers 1-6.
I won’t be delving into my actual chart, but I’ll still include it in the post.

One of the websites I used to get my Human Design chart is www.myhumandesign.com. You would use your birthday, time, and location. It’s similar to getting your natal chart in astrology but completely different. You can also go to human. design to get your free Human Design chart and a free chart breakdown.
As I mentioned, this is a new topic I’m learning about, so I don’t know all the details of my chart. To be transparent, I don’t know what half of it means. I plan to write a series of my discoveries with Human Design, so be sure to follow along with later posts. In my chart, I want to discuss my energy type and my profile.
Manifesting Generator
Generators make up most of the population – about 70%. They are the world’s doers and bring massive energy to the human design system. Think of what a generator does for a house, right. It provides electricity that powers the entire home. Within this energy type, there are manifesting generators. Even though they have the word manifesting in the name, they are not a blend of manifestors and generators. They are still generators but have an open line of energy from the throat chakra to the sacral chakra. This gives MGs a unique skill to manifest things but still have to follow their strategy and authority.
Each energy type has a strategy, just a tool to help make decisions. Pure generators have the approach of waiting to respond. Really, it’s just being patient and waiting for a sign before making decisions. This may be an internal response in the gut or an external response in life. Remember that the Universe speaks its own language, an ancient language without words that permeates nature and life. Manifesting Generators have one more step in their strategy; to inform. This might look like telling your family and friends about your plans after you’ve received a response to go through with them.
Your authority is just that—the power to give orders or make decisions. Generators have emotional authority, which is often ambiguous. It takes time and practice to translate your emotional responses into yes and no. In the spirit of transparency, I haven’t mastered this skill yet, but I am learning to ride the emotional waves. By combining your strategy and authority, you can master your life.
6/2 The Role Model Hermit
The first number in the profile represents the conscious mind, and the second represents the unconscious mind. The 6 line symbolizes the Role Model, and the 2 line symbolizes the Hermit. Some famous 6/2s include Barack and Michelle Obama, Nicki Minaj, and me, of course.
The 6 Line shows that that profile carrier will have 3 stages of life. The first stage (birth-30) is a period of trial and error. This trial and error period mimics that of Line 3 – The Martyr. You should use the “explore and exploit” tactics to navigate life during this stage. That means to explore different experiences, whether carriers, locations, or relationships; exploit those that bear successful results, and if no successful outcomes follow, you continue exploring. The second stage (30-50) is reflection and adaptation. During Barack Obama’s second stage, he married Michelle, became a state senator, then a US Senator, and subsequently the 44th president of the United States. In the third stage (50-death), the carrier begins to use their wisdom to live in their truth, share their wisdom with others, and become a “role model” of themselves.
The 2 Line shows an intense and recurring need for seclusion or isolation, such as a hermit crab isolated in its shell. In her memoir Becoming, Michelle Obama mentions that in every home they lived in, Barack had a separate space for reading and decompressing. He called it his “hole.” Individuals with the 2 Line need space to regroup and value their alone time. This is something I’ve come to realize about myself. No matter how much I think I want to, I’ve never actually been one to hang out often. I have to be in the mood. During this solitary time, Line 2 can work on their skills and crafts, further their knowledge, or recharge to return to the world. People need to understand and respect Line 2’s need for alone time.
